About Us

In the very early part of 1970, the current same family took over the running of the already well established Pyrkes Removals. Since then, our distinctive removal trucks have been a very familiar sight around the whole of Tendring and far beyond. With bases in Frinton and Clacton, it's unlikely that anyone who has lived locally for any length of time, hasn't heard of our name, seen one of our vehicles or known someone we have moved. For better or for worse, things change and at Pyrkes Removals we have also made various changes, moving with the times.

Whilst we are still the same family owned and run, independent company, with some long standing, highly skilled and valued, members of staff, we no longer run our fleet of large removal trucks. To ensure we can continue to give highly competitive prices and to be able to safely access the many newer, smaller roads, and also in many of our local areas, Brightlingsea, Wivenhoe, parts of Colchester, Harwich and Walton, to name just a few, we find using Luton vans keeps our running costs lower, our chance of access better, which of course allows us to keep giving the excellent value for money, competitively priced moves, we have always been renowned for.

Removals

We offer a full or part packing service, if required. We also offer a comprehensive range of boxes and packing materials, bubble wrap, acid free paper, tape and marker pens etc.

Man & Van

Nowadays, more and more people are finding the need for a man and van service. This might be to collect just 1 or 2 items, we've even helped customers to move an item, or several items, from house to garage, down to upstairs or from one room to another. This could be to have a new carpet laid, some decorating work undertaken, perhaps a family member needs to convalesce so a bedroom needs to be created downstairs. Whatever the reason, whether you need 1 man or more, a van or just labour within the home, our fully experienced removal teams are on hand to assist. An hourly charge is usually best for this.

I'm sure we've all seen a family car with a mattress dangerously 'strapped' haphazardly on it's roof, even (almost beyond belief) a sofa. An item too long so tailgate is open. Not only is this ridiculously dangerous, it's highly illegal. Not only are they risking damage to their vehicle or item being transported, what if this comes off the car and injurs or kills someone, is it honestly worth the risk, just to save what could only be the cost of a takeaway meal. We all need to save money where we can, but saving how much, against what risk, that's the real question.

Storage

At Pyrkes Removals we own and operate our own storage facility. Long or short term storage is welcomed in our highly secure premises. The fact we own our premises means you never have to worry we might be here today and gone tomorrow, we've all heard the horror stories about smaller, independent storage facilities.

We offer various sizes of storage, all within our dry and secure, insured premises. If you're looking for storage, give us a call and we can chat about size required, length of time expected (we know you won't always know this) and cost. All our costs are without hidden extras, so you'll always know before agreeing. All our storage is inside, no damp, no condensation, no mould.

Clearances

At Pyrkes Removals we also offer a house clearance service. We welcome full or part clearances and we are always mindful that many house clearance jobs come at an extremely sensitive time, hence we can assure you of a discreet and courteous service always.

Whilst we will always pass as much as possible to local charities and worthy causes, sadly the bulk generally needs to go to licenced trade waste facilities and being a licenced, resposnsible, business ourselves, we can assure you all items will be disposed of ethically and legally at all times.
